The Golden Circle, Kulusuk & Tasiilaq
This package includes overnight stays at same centrally situated hotel in Reykjavik, from where it is possible to join several excursions (optional) besides the included fullday Golden Circle excursion with English speaking guide (provided by Reykjavik Excursions). There will be plenty of time to indulge the atmosphere of Iceland´s capital and explore all its treasures.
The Golden Circle excursion from Reykjavik is an absolute must with visits to Thingvellir National Park, the impressive waterfall Gullfoss and the Geysir area. On this Golden Circle tour we have also included a relaxing visit to recreational Fontana Spa.
After two great days in Reykjavik you go by direct flight til East Greenland for another three nights in both Kulusuk and Tasiilaq with an immense opportunity to enjoy this fascinating area on your own or on very exciting excursions before returning to Reykjavik for the last two nights.
Kulusuk & Tasiilaq
Only for about 100 years ago, the East Greenlanders lived isolated from the rest of the world, which still influences the area. The language is different and the culture has deep roots in myths and legends, which - among other things - is expressed in the local handcraft like the Tupilak; small figures made from animal bones and teeth. The entrance to East Greenland is Kulusuk, situated on a small rocky island between jagged mountain peaks close to extensive fjords with active glaciers and icebergs. The landscape is ideal for hiking - e.g. to the top of the Isikajia mountain with an amazing view to Danmarksstrædet. You go by helicopter from Kulusuk to Tasiilaq (former Angmagsalik), that inspite of its only about 2000 inhabitants is the biggest town in East Greenland. A trip to Kulusuk and Tasiilaq is probably the closest one can come to the "the Old Greenland".
